Shillelagh Law is a band rooted in the spirit of Irish tradition, weaving raw, evocative sounds with a fresh and fearless perspective. Formed in the heart of the Irish Midlands, the group is a collective force, where each member’s story, talent, and passion intertwine to create something truly unique.
Adam Kelly (banjo, mandolin) brings intricate craftsmanship and a spirited edge, honed during his time performing with the legendary Fureys. Chris Leonard (vocals, guitar, bouzouki) lends a resonant voice and magnetic presence, drawing listeners deep into the narratives at the heart of the band’s music.
Aidan Burke, a multi-instrumentalist and 20-time All England/All Ireland champion, adds fire and finesse with his fiddle playing. A cousin of Kevin Burke (Bothy Band, Patrick Street), Aidan bridges the old and the new, imbuing every note with both tradition and his own bold individuality.
Éilis, a concertina player from Dublin, rounds out the group with a soulful and melodic warmth. Raised on the music and dance of Co. Clare, she brings authenticity and a quiet strength to the band’s sound. Since the age of 17, Éilis has shared her music across Europe, breathing life and intimacy into every tune she plays.
Together, Shillelagh Law forges music that dives into the darker, richer corners of Irish tradition. Their songs embrace shadowy melodies and minor tones, balanced by flashes of unexpected light. The result is a sound that feels timeless yet uniquely their own—a delicate meeting of heritage and innovation, intensity and intimacy.
For Shillelagh Law, music is more than performance—it’s about connection. Every tune is an invitation to step into a world where stories are shared, the past echoes through the present, and the power of Irish music takes on new and exhilarating forms.
